Get to know us

Executive Board + Committee Leads + Regional Representatives = the people behind a functioning association to support YOU!

We are so grateful to all the executive board members and regional representatives for the hours each month they volunteer to make this association run smoothly.

It truly takes a village, and these music therapists, students, and supporters are nothing less than community.

They are our neighbors, colleagues, and friends; and we’re proud to have them leading the New York State Association for Music Therapy.

Consider joining us

We were all new at this at one point, so experience is not required!

We have Executive Board, Committee Lead, and Regional Representative positions open and available which all help the association function. Meetings are held around once a month, and volunteers work on their own time to fulfill tasks of the association.

Positions that are already filled will be changed every 1-2 years through an election process in November - stay tuned for that!

Committee Leads

The perks of joining…

Very little extra time in our days, but the benefits of working with NYSAMT are worth it!

  • CMTEs for working with NYSAMT! Earn up to 50 recertification credits for “Service to Music Therapy Profession” (1 Credit per 50 Minutes)

  • Regular peer support - More than anything, the music therapists working with NYSAMT feel a sense of togetherness in an often isolating profession where we are the only music therapist in our place of work. We value our time together in monthly meetings.

  • All the empowering feelings of supporting the music therapy profession and your fellow music therapist colleagues in improving their work, sustaining their careers, and creating more opportunities for the expansion of music therapy in the state of New York.

Regional Representatives

The only way this association functions is with the generous support of the music therapists and associated professionals who offer their time for a couple hours each month to take on small tasks to keep the association running.
